📚 In spite of / Despite 

📌 After in spite of and despite, we use a noun, gerund (-ing form of a verb), or a pronoun. – Après in spite of et despite, on utilise un nom, un gérondif (-ing) ou un pronom.

They never made much money, in spite of their success.

Ils n’ont jamais gagné beaucoup d’argent, malgré leur succès.
In spite of the pain in his leg, he completed the marathon.

Malgré la douleur à sa jambe, il a terminé le marathon.
Despite having a headache, I had a great birthday.

Malgré un mal de tête, j’ai passé un excellent anniversaire.
The train was cancelled. In spite of that, we arrived on time.

→ Le train a été annulé. Malgré cela, nous sommes arrivés à l’heure.
