📌 We also use “used to” to talk about past habits (repeated past actions) that don’t happen any more. On utilise aussi “used to” pour parler d’habitudes passées (actions répétées) qui n’existent plus.
I used to go swimming every Thursday when I was at school.
→ J’allais nager tous les jeudis quand j’étais à l’école.
She used to smoke but she gave up a few years ago.
→ Elle fumait mais elle a arrêté il y a quelques années.
⚠️ Important: “used to + infinitive” should not be confused with “be/get used to + -ing”, which has a different meaning. The difference is covered here.
