Using “There is/are” in Past and Future

We can use there is and there are in many other verb tenses.

There was a storm last night. (Past simple)

→ Il y avait un orage hier soir.

There were a lot of cars on the roads yesterday. (Past simple)

→ Il y avait beaucoup de voitures sur les routes hier.

There will be a lot of people at the shopping centre tomorrow. (Future simple)

→ Il y aura beaucoup de monde au centre commercial demain.
